Lonergan announces for County Assessor-Treasurer

Longtime Pierce County resident and former Tacoma City Council member Joe Lonergan has filed his candidacy for County Assessor-Treasurer with the Washington Public Disclosure Commission.  Next he will file with the county elections department in May for his name to appear on the August 6 primary ballot for the non-partisan position.

Lonergan, 47, is the son of current Assessor-Treasurer Mike Lonergan, who will retire at the end of 2024 after being elected three times and serving twelve years in the office.  "Joe is clearly the best choice to carry on the award-winning improvements made by the Assessor-Treasurer's team over the past twelve years," said Mike Lonergan.  "He will continue the "Better Every Day" theme that has made Pierce County a respected model for assessors and treasurers around the state."

Joe Lonergan has a strong record of integrity and public service, having been elected to chair both the Pierce County Regional Council and the board of South Sound 911.  He is an honors graduate of Eastern Washington University with a degree in Business Administration.  He and his wife of 22 years Beth are raising two sons in their South End Tacoma home.

He has previously served as an account executive for the News Tribune and is currently a technology director for Motion Church based in Puyallup.  More information is available at www.joelonergan.com.
